About Neul

Neul was started in Cambridge, UK in 2010 by a group of entrepreneurs with an impressive track record. Our core team was responsible for building Europe's most successful fabless semiconductor company, CSR.

Neul is transforming wireless data communications by slashing the cost of the spectrum, base stations and the terminals needed to set up a wide area wireless network. This will enable our customers to build networks and applications that offer completely new kinds of devices, services and business models. Together we can build 'the internet of everything'.

Neul's disruptive technology uses white space radio to access the high quality spectrum needed for a truly ubiquitous wide area network. White space radio takes advantage of TV channels that are no longer used as we switch from analogue TV to digital TV. This frees up to 150MHz of high quality spectrum. For comparison, typical nationwide 3G networks have to make do with only 30MHz of spectrum, and while 3G spectrum cost $bn, white space radio spectrum is available free of charge.

The network has been specifically designed to be 'data only' in order to support the explosive growth of wireless data. M2M connections alone are anticipated to reach more than 50 billion connected devices by 2020. Neul's wireless technology is designed from the ground up to support this huge number. No alternative system comes close.

Neul is the first to produce a specific white space wireless network – NeulNET – please see our products page for details.

In order to harmonise connectivity of devices, Neul is promoting a new, open M2M communications standard 'Weightless'. More details of the specification & the Weightless Special Interest Group (SIG) will be made public later in the year.
